According to a study by Beaverbrooks, the traditional and romantic marriage proposal will soon be history as half of proposals now take place at home.

It would seem that men are now settling for the easier option when they pop the question.
The results showed that only one third of men now get down on one knee, unlike their fathers and grandfathers who likely adhered to tradition.
Another important aspect of the proposal process- asking the bride's father for his blessing- has also taken a nose dive. A whopping 63% of men 'didn't bother' asking their father in law to be if they could ask their daughter for their hand in marriage.
It appears that choosing a romantic location is too much effort as 49% of couples now get engaged at home.
Only six per cent took their partner abroad, however 6% also asked their loved one to be their spouse in the PUB and 5.5% decided the CAR was the best setting.
Men also do the deed on days out, at a restaurant, on a beach, in a hotel or in the garden.
The average amount of times couples wait before getting engaged now is around three years. It would seem that as a result women are getting in the driving seat and choosing their own ring rather than leaving it up to their partner.
Women who are ready for their big day, will also drop hints to their partner by asking questions during 'Don't Tell the Bride' and pointing out engagement rings.
Lorna Haddon, diamond ring and jewellery buyer at Beaverbrooks, commented: "The stresses and strains of modern life mean we don't always have the time to be as romantic as we would perhaps like to be.
"Busy lives and hectic schedules mean we have fewer hours in the day for romance - however our study shows women do still want the 'picture perfect proposal' - and it's not only picking the perfect engagement ring that counts.
"The location, atmosphere and little details that mean a lot to them really make a proposal personal and truly special, and as it's a once in a lifetime occasion it's well worth making the effort.
