The couple met backstage at a New Edition concert and they remained friends for two years before they got together.

The pair eloped to get married on 16th November 1987, which was Bonet's birthday and they were wed in Las Vegas.
Bonet gave birth to a baby daughter, Zoe Isabella Kravitz on the 1st December 1988.
