Chris and Malaak Rock would have celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary today, so we reflect on their time as husband and wife with some things you might not know about the couple.

1. Rock married Compton on the 23rd November after they met at the Essence Awards.
2. While he is know for his many platforms, as a comedian, screenwriter, television producer, film producer and director, Compton is the founder and executive director of StyleWorks, a non-profit salon which provides free services for women who are leaving welfare and going back to work.
3. They have two daughters together: Lola Simone (2002) and Zahra Savannah (2004).
4. When asked about marriage, he said; 'The best part is just having a partner. There is no real worst part. I'm not going to say there's a worst part. I mean I'm a comedian - comedians like to work alone. So maybe I'm not the ideal guy to be married to, in that sense.

5. The family all lived in Alpine, New Jersey until Rock filed for divorce in December 2014, which was finalised in August 2016.
