Gibson met Robyn Denise Moore in the 1970s after the movie Max Max was finished filming. They were both renting a house in Adelaide and were registered with the same dating service.

They got married on the 7th June 1980, and were wed in a Roman Catholic Church in Forestville, New South Wales.
They now have one daughter together, Hannah, and six sons: Edward, Christian, William, Louis, Milo and Thomas.
The pair unfortunately split on the 29th July 2006. According to Wikipedia, Gibson was interviewed in 2011 and revealed that the spilt happened not long after he was arrested for drunk driving in Malibu.

The divorce filing also came not long after Gibson was first seen with Russian pianist Oksana Rigorieva. The settlement was notable for being the largest in Hollywood history, allegedly totalling at £400,000,000.
