They got engaged and announced it at Elton John's 'The Concert' for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The couple married in 2002; the wedding was supposed to take place in Santa Barbara, California, however it was changed by Rimes to Dallas to be close to her sick grandfather and so he could walk her down the aisle.
Sadly in July 2009, Rimes and Sheremet broke up and in September 2009, Rimes publicly confirmed their divorce. It was all wrapped up by 19th June 2010; six months after Sheremet filed his divorce documents for the dissolution of marriage.
It was speculated that their marriage ended in 2009 because of Rimes' apparent extra marital affair with actor Eddie Cibrian, after working with him on Northern Lights. Cibrian was married Brandi Glanville, a former model and reality television star. Cibrian and Glanville have two sons together, Mason and Jake. The couple separated in July 2009 when the alleged affair was found out. Their divorce was finalized on September 30, 2010. The circumstances surrounding their marriage and divorce was a part of Brandi's New York Times bestseller book "Drinking and Tweeting".
On December 27, 2010, it was announced via Billboard that Rimes and Cibrian were engaged and they wed on April 22, 2011, at a private home in California.
