Trump began dating Slovenian born fashion model Melania Knauss in 1998 after she moved to New York City in 1996.

They met at a Fashion Week party in New York City in the September of 1998. The media were fascinated with the relationship after Trump appeared in The Howard Stern Show and then again after Trump's reality TV show The Apprentice took off.
In 2005, Trump said; "We literally have never had an argument, forget about the word 'fight' ... We just are very compatible. We get along."
The couple got engaged in April 2004 and married on 22nd January 2005 at Bethesda-by-the-sea Episcopal Church in the island of Palm Beach, Florida.
They then celebrated their reception at Trump's Ma-A-Lago estate.
Their wedding was attended by guests such as Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, Rudy Giuliani, Heidi Klum, Star Jones, P. Diddy, Shaquille O'Neal, Barbara Walters, Conrad Black,Regis Philbin, Simon Cowell, Kelly Ripa, and then-Senator Hillary Clinton and former president Bill Clinton.
At the reception, Billy Joel serenaded the crowd with "Just the Way You Are", and wrote new lyrics about Trump to the tune of The Lady is a Tramp.
The media widely covered the wedding- Knauss wore a $200,000 dress by John Galliano and the cake was a 50 pound orange Grand Marnier chocolate truffle with Grand Marnier butter cream filling- that was adorned with 3,000 roses made by Chef at Mar-A-Lago.
In 2006, Melania gave birth to their son Barron William Trump and is fluent in both Slovenian and English.
In 2015, when asked about her husband's presidential campaign, Melania said, "I encouraged him because I know what he will do and what he can do for America. He loves the American people and he wants to help them."
When asked by the New York Times what her role would be if Trump were to become president, Melania replied: "I would be very traditional. Like Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy . I would support him."
