Barack and Michelle Obama celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary today so we take a look back over their time as husband and wife.

1. The pair met back in 1989 when Robinson was working as a summer associate in the Chicago law firm of Sidley Austin.
2. She was reportedly assigned as Obama's advisor for three months and accompanied him to many social functions.
3. Their relationship allegedly began with a business lunch and a community organisation meeting where he first impressed her.
4. The story goes that he asked to date her; however she declined initially before changing her mind.
5. They began their romance in the summer of the same year.
6. The couple went to see the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing on their first date.
7. They got engaged in 1991...
8. ...And married on 3rd October 1992
9. The Obamas had their first daughter, Malia Ann on 4th July 1998.
10. Their second daughter Natasha was born on June 10th 2001.
11. The family have two Portuguese Water Dogs, one called Sunny and the other- Bo, who was a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy.
