Game Of Thrones has taken the world by storm to such an extent that couples are now having it as a theme on their big day, much like Facebook President Sean parker who opted for a Game Of Thrones-esque wedding day. Upon the release of the third season of the show on DVD and Blu-Ray, we talk to wedding planner Kerry Jackson-Rider on her tips for recreating a day that is fit for a king and queen!

Why do you think Game of Thrones is so hugely popular as a theme for a wedding?
I think it captures people's attention and especially young, reasonably affluent couples who are looking to make a statement with their wedding and do something a bit different.
Which female character wears costumes that are fit for a bride?
All the ladies wear interesting outfits but I think Daenerys Targaryen and King Joffrey's fiancee, Margaery Tyrell, are the most popular in terms of dress, hair styling and accessories.
Can you give us some examples of venues that are in-keeping with the theme?
Castles, dungeons, vaulted cellars and also outdoor woodland settings are popular. We are lucky to have access to many amazing castles in the UK and in Europe!
Which of the female character’s hairstyles do you think is the perfect for a bride?
I personally like Daenerys' blond, flowing natural wavy style which can be adorned with a floral wreath or jewelled tiara or simply left to flow with braids.
Please tell us about the extent of the planning that would go into one of these themed weddings.
The planning itself would be about the same as normal which is always dependent upon budget, location, number of guests and complexity. The extra work is in the details and in bringing it all together which is where my experience and creative interpretation of the couple's overall vision really come in to play.
What is next for you?
I am currently working on a Summer wedding which has a Vintage Fairground theme as a part of it. Fingers crossed for a glorious English summer day. Also a Bonfire Night 'Fireworks' themed wedding which will be interesting. I am also looking forward to attending the first Destination Wedding Congress to be held in Athens in April as a VIP/speaker
