If both the bride and the bridesmaid are looking to shed a few pounds for the big day- great! You can work out together, draw up a diet plan, be each other's go to person when the chocolate beckons your name. And thanks to research, we all know that if you have a buddy system that weight loss is much more successful.
Noom's psychologist in charge of weight loss support groups, Andreas Michaelides, has put together this guide to "Being a Brides' Buddy".
If you follow this advice, then you and the bride will look like a million dollars on the day.
Set your check-in time - It's easy to skip the gym or eat something naughty if no one lease really notices or cares, however if you have a joint goal and don't want to be a bad example to the bride, then sticking to schedules matters. Agree on your work out meet up time and when you are going to get together for a weigh in a and a chat about progress. When you open the fridge for a binge- grab the phone!
Anticipate when things can go bad- Weekends, no gym nights and when the bride is upset can all trigger food pangs. So make sure that at these times you are available for a text message or emergency phone call for some well needed words of advice.
Safety Word- No- this is not just reserved for bondage! Typing out a long message or making a phone call can often be too long winded when you're trying to get through your working day. One word is all you need to communicate the need for motivation.
Rewards- List the reasons for losing the weight and suggest rewards at the end of each milestone. A piece of jewellery, a pound for every pound or your favourite meal- but in moderation so you don't fall off the wagon completely.
Celebrate Mini-Successes - Acknowledge what you have done- even if its small- a drop in dress size or the next level on the machine at the gym. Get a tick chart for the wall, fill in your diary with positive words or pop out for a low calorie non-alcoholic drink and clink your glasses to your successes!
