The pair began dating in 1986, while he was still living with Merrill Markoe, his previous girlfriend.

Letterman and Lasko got married on the 19th March 2009, in a quiet courthouse civil ceremony in Chateau, Montana after Letterman bought a ranch there in 1999.
He announced he was tying the knot on the March 23rd show only a week after congratulating Bruce Willis on his marriage. He revealed that he nearly missed the ceremony as the truck got stuck in mud two miles from their home.
They have a son together, Harry Joseph, who is named after Letterman's father. In 2005, the police discovered a plot to kidnap Harry and ransom him for $5million but finally Kelly Frank, who was a house painter, was charged with this conspiracy.
They now live together in North Salem, New York on a 108 acre estate.
