On 24th April 1992, Bowie married Somali American model Iman in a private ceremony in Lausanne and the wedding was then solemnised on 6th June in Florence.
Bowie had to overcome her preconceptions of dating a famous singer when they first met; ‘I did not want to get involved with a rock star. No way. It is not a sane thing to do but David changed my mind. He wooed me.’ (Trulovestories.com)
After just two weeks she realised that he was a different kind of singer; “The doors open … I see all these people taking a picture of somebody. And he was standing there, flowers in hand, no security. That was when I knew. He didn’t care if anyone saw.”(trulovestories.com)
David Bowie and Iman
They now have one daughter together- Alexandria 'Lexi' Zahra Jones, who was born in August 2000.
Iman is now stepmother for Bowie's son Duncan Jones from his previous marriage to Angela Barnett.
The couple live between their homes in New York City and London.
As they celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2012- Bowie now refuses to do any interviews, however we still have this little gem from 1997 with Rosie O'Donnell!
