Celebrity Wedding Anniversary: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver 26/4/1986

Arnold met Maria at the Robert F Kennedy Tennis Tournament in August 1977- they were introduced by NBC's Tom Brokaw. They married on the 26th April 1986 in Hyannis, Massachusetts at St Frances Xavier Roman Catholic Church. They now have four children together; Katherine Eunice, Christina Maria Aurelia, Patrick Arnold and Christopher Sargent.

When asked about when they first met, he remembered; 'If I hadn't been her style and she hadn't been mine, we never would have ended up together. Maria meshed with everything that I was, what I stood for, and what I was doing. I got addicted to her. Maria was such a forceful personality that she would just run over guys. She wanted to be unique and different.'

They own two vacation homes together in Sun Valley, Idaho and Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. Sadly after 25 years of marriage, the couple ended their relationship and Maria moved out of their Brentwood mansion. She posted a message to her Twitter followers not long after; "Thank you all for the kindness, support and compassion. I am humbled by the love. Thank you."

According to the Los Angeles Times, Arnold had apparently fathered a son 14 years prior with an employee in their house. "After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," he told The Times. The statement revealed the he had only told her after she confronted him about it.

Arnold supposedly didn't know for another eight years that Joseph was his son. He recalled to 60 minutes that it wasn't until he "started looking like me, that's when I kind of got it. I put things together."

Shriver apparently said little on the matter, however publicly asked that he would say no more on the subject other than; "As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal."

Arnold now lives in the Brentwood home and Shriver has bought a new home worth $10 million close by so the children have easy access to both parents.

When asked "Of all the things you are famous for ... which are you least proud of?" Schwarzenegger replied "I'm least proud of the mistakes I made that caused my family pain and split us up".
