A woman has put her dogs on a vegan diet.
Paula Lawes, 41, from Hampshire - who owns a vegan business - decided to change to a vegan lifestyle earlier this year and soon introduced the healthier diet to her two four-year-old dogs Tommy, an Patterdale Terrier and Bella, a mixed-breed rescue dog.
She said: ''When I first became vegan I was still feeding the dogs raw meat. They used to eat fresh raw chicken from a special meat shop - I never gave them anything processed as that's just the worst.
''But after a couple of months I just thought, 'I can't do this anymore', so I started to do some research and ask around about vegan diets for dogs.
''I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing.''
After researching vegan diets suitable for dogs, the part-time cafe worker now feeds her furry friends vegetables, sweet potatoes, fruit and herbs and spices instead of the standard dog food.
She told the Metro newspaper: '''Some people might not agree with not feeding them any animal products, but I know my dogs.''
