Heavily processed milk chocolates are full of nasty ingredients including Glucose Syrup, Palm Oils, added Refined Sugars and E numbers. High quality vegan snacks, like flapjacks don't need to add these ingredients because the flavour and sweetness is naturally found in the fruits and oats.

More and more consumers are finding that they are intolerant to dairy or lactose, so it's important to have tasty vegan snacks readily available. Some consumer have had to swap milk for milk alternatives and stop eating chocolate bars because of their adverse reactions to the dairy. 'Dairy free' chocolate bars are often fine for such people, it's just finding one that tastes good can be tough! Raw Cacao can be a tasty alternative to milk chocolate.

The moral implications of eating snacks that use ingredients taken from mistreated animals is overwhelming. When I read about the conditions cows are kept in, or how pigs are treated it makes me so sad. There is no reason for treating animals in this way, other than big corporations squeezing as much profit as they possibly can, not caring where their ingredients come from as long as they're cheap.

There is a lot of evidence to show vegan snacking offers health benefits over non-vegan varieties. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics say vegans are less likely to develop heart disease or high blood pressure than meat eaters. Meat snacks are often high in cholesterol and saturated fats. This means snacking on pork scratchings, biltong or dried meats might be doing more harm than good!
