Something I miss dreadfully as a vegan is a good brownie. There is nothing quite like sinking your teeth into one so I was excited to try to new 100% Natural Organic Raw Chocolate Brownie with Coconut and Chia.

100% Natural Organic Raw Chocolate Brownie with Coconut and Chia

Although it is not a brownie, as you might know it- it's not as soft as what you might be used to- it certainly boasts a lovely chocolaty flavour. Unlike dairy based brownies, where there are usually chunks of chocolate- in this you still get a crunch from the cashews, chia seeds and sunflower seeds to give it a bit of bite.

The bar sports a healthy 5.5 g of protein so great as a post gym snack, if you're looking to up your daily intake or simply as a treat.

It smells amazing and is smooth and shiny when you take it out of the wrapper.

I looked up the definition of a brownie- because I'm sad like that- and it said it's a cake crossed with a cookie in texture. This tastes and feels more like a protein bar to me- not dissimilar to the texture of Nak'd bar for instance. That's not to say I don't like it but I think you have to get past the idea that it will be exactly like what you grew up with as this set you up with too many expectations.

At 200 calories per bar- it packs a lot of fat and energy; however, you can rest easy that the fats are all organic and good foods so they are certainly better than reaching for a vegan chocolate bar, full of refined sugar and things you can't pronounce. The sugar and sweetness in the bar is derived from dates and coconuts so all natural ingredients.

The packaging is very simplistic which I presume is reflection of the simple ingredients it contains. No frills, no fancies- just whole foods and plant based ingredients.

Overall, I think this is the best vegan brownie I have tasted- despite it not being exactly like its dairy filled counterpart- it was delicious and I would happily have another, or two.
