I have a confession- I have never used Epsom salts in my life and I didn't really know what they were for before I used the ones from Lucy Bee.

Lucy Bee Epsom Salts

I am big on exfoliation so was thrilled when I realised that I could mix a 50/50 split of coconut oil and exosome salts and create a natural scrub for my body. Although it's a bit of a messy process compared to buying a pre-packaged scrub, I liked that fact that there were only 2 ingredients in this one so I wasn't forcing chemicals or ingredients I couldn't pronounce into my skin.

When reading up- it seems pretty obvious, but alas we forget that the skin is the largest organ we own. And whatever you put onto it is absorbed right away- which is why it's important to be mindful of what you are using as moisturisers, body washes and indeed exfoliates.

Epsom salts actually contain magnesium which apparently a lot of us are deficient in because of agricultural practices and diet. So when you use Epsom salts in the bath, the magnesium is taken in by the skin and the toxins are expelled.

I did just this on Sunday night- I have not had a bath in months (I'm a shower person- not really dirty) and it was lovely to lie back and let them do their thing. I will warn you- they can be a little gritty on your bottom until they dissolve but that doesn't take very long at all. My skin felt lovely after having an exfoliation and a soak and has remained pretty shiny ever since. I think I might have to treat myself to a bath every week now I know the effect that these salts can have on my body.

My only warning would be that if you exfoliate with coconut oil, it can make your bath slippery if you're doing it in there so be careful afterwards. Make sure you give your bath a little clean so you don't go sliding the next day.

My one concern with this product was whether or not is cruelty free- however when looking further into it- it is marked up as Fair Trade and by definition- Fair Trade means there is 'no cruelty to or misuse of animals' in the making of these products, which is declared on the site so gave me greater peace of mind. It's also vegan, Vegetarian Society Approved and Organic- what more could you want from a product than to tick all these boxes?

Overall, I am delighted to have found yet another use for my Lucy Bee Coconut Oil and also an exfoliator that has 100% natural ingredients in it. I am so tired of seeing long ingredient lists on my beauty products so this was a welcome change. And it's looking like these salts may have converted me to a bath person- at last once a week anyway!
