This year’s SummerSlam will be one of the most-watched pay-per-views for WWE in 2017, with some stellar competitors taking to the ring in a bid to boost their chances at survival in such a vicious world of sports entertainment.
Career opportunities are at an all-time high at PPVs such as this one, and with relative newcomers such as Baron Corbin and Big Cass allowed to make their mark, it’s looking likely that this could be one of the most exciting events of 2017.
Taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, here are all of the bouts we know will be taking place and our predictions for who we think will win in bold:
- Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe for the Universal Championship
- Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship
- Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship
- Akira Tozawa (c) vs. Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship
- Naomi (c) vs. Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
- AJ Styles (c) vs. Kevin Owens for the United States Championship
- The New Day (c) vs. The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships
- John Cena vs. Baron Corbin
- Randy Orton vs. Rusev
- Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt
- Big Show vs. Big Cass
With Cena not winning a single match at SummerSlam in six years, you’d be forgiven for thinking his losing streak could be coming to an end in a face-off against Baron Corbin, but with the latter being the current Mr. Money in the Bank, he needs some good momentum to go ahead, cash in against a champion like Brock Lesnar or Jinder Mahal and walk off with the title around his waist.
Another upcoming contender for one of the biggest titles in WWE is Rusev, so he’ll need to be put over by Orton here if he’s to become a major threat in the business once more.
Finally, Big Cass is somebody who looks to be getting a fast pass to the top of WWE thanks to his size, so being put over with an incredible win against Big Show would certainly help him on that path.
What do you think to our predictions? Will these be our winners when SummerSlam comes to its conclusion, or do you have other ideas?
WWE SummerSlam 2017 comes to the WWE Network and pay-per-view live on Sunday, August 20.
