There were a whole host of new faces, returning faces and big surprises on Monday Night Raw yesterday (April 4), so we've broken them down to see just what's going on in WWE this week, two days after WrestleMania 32 rocked Dallas.

Mr. McMahon puts Shane McMahon in charge for one night only

Despite losing to The Undertaker at Hell in a Cell, Shane McMahon was still given charge of WWE's flagship show, Monday Night Raw, but for one night only.

Chairman and father to Shane, Vince McMahon said that despite enjoying seeing his son get beat up by Undertaker, he did find joy in seeing his grandkids accompany Shane to the ring before Shane leapt from the top of the cell.

Because of that, he was going to give the WWE Universe and Shane what they wanted for a single night, in an effort to prove how poorly The Prodigal Son would perform when in control.

League of Nations kick out King Barrett after losing title opportunity

Being given an opportunity to claim the WWE Tag Team Championships once and for all, the League of Nations couldn't do what they did the night before at WrestleMania, with the champions delivering Midnight Hour for a pinfall victory.

Angry at the outcome, Sheamus pointed out King Barrett as the group's weakest link before leading an attack on him. That's not the rivalry we may be seeing set up however, as the Wyatt Family then appeared to clean the ring of the League of Nations, perhaps hoping to prove they're the dominant tag force in the industry.

Baron Corbin makes Raw debut

Following on from his win at WrestleMania in the Andre the Giant memorial Battle Royal, Baron Corbin made his Raw main roster debut in a match against Dolph Ziggler that resulted in a double count-out.

Furious with the result, Baron didn't stop unloading on Ziggler, instead laying him out in the crowd and hitting End of Days on the floor.

Apollo Crews makes main roster debut

An incredible reaction was on hand for Apollo Crews when he made his main roster debut last night on Raw, going up against Prince Pretty himself, Tyler Breeze.

Landing a spin-out powerbomb on Breeze before picking up the win, Crews could be one of the company's biggest players moving forward. He's certainly got the athleticism to be something incredibly special and the audience just love him.

Roman Reigns turns... Tweener?

Roman Reigns is having some trouble finding his place in WWE, at least with the fans. For so long the company has tried to push him as their leading babyface, but audiences are having none of it.

Because of that, WWE may finally be leading Roman's character down a different path. Long rumoured to be turning heel, he here instead became a bit of a tweener, appearing smug following his victory for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and stating: "I'm not a bad guy. I'm not a good guy. I'm THE guy."

It's actually an incredibly wise move and if he continues to broach this territory, he could finally have a bright future ahead of him not just title-wise, but with the fans.

Maryse returns to help husband The Miz win the Intercontinental Championship

Though it's unknown if Maryse is returning full time to the company to inject herself into the newly revamped women's division, her verbal attack on Zack Ryder's father caused enough of a distraction for her husband, The Miz to pick up the win in an Intercontinental Championship match. Holding the belt for just one day, Ryder looked dejected and fans have to feel a little upset and conned out of his WrestleMania win. Still, he had his WrestleMania moment - not something a lot of people can say.

The Miz and Ryder will go up against one another in a rematch on SmackDown later this week - something for which Maryse is being advertised.

Enzo and Big Cass make their main roster debut

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady are one of the most exciting tag teams to come out of NXT in history and so, seeing them finally make their way onto Monday Night Raw was a huge thrill.

The crowd buy right into their shtick, as the pair ripped The Dudley Boyz apart and a fight between the teams was teased. They by far got the biggest crowd reaction of the night and it's going to be very interesting to see just how The Realest Guys in the Room slot into proceedings going forward.

Cesaro returns as AJ Styles becomes the number one contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Skipping the idea of Triple H getting a rematch against Roman Reigns, WWE instead jumped right into finding a new number one contender for going up against the champion for the belt.

Sami Zayn was originally scheduled to take part in the match but, after being attacked by Kevin Owens backstage he was left in the cold. Luckily for fans, that meant returning Superstar Cesaro could find a place in the match, following months of being out of action due to injury.

Countering Chris Jericho's Walls of Jericho with a Sharpshooter, Cesaro put up a great fight, but it wasn't his night to begin chasing the Championship.

Instead, Styles and Jericho once again found themselves fighting it out to become number one contender, with Styles hitting the Styles Clash and securing the win. Being such a face in the company, could he help elevate Reigns as a heel character going forward?
