World Wrestling Entertainment's legendary former female wrestler Joanie Laurer, better known by her ring name of Chyna has passed away aged 45 it's been revealed.

The cause of death as of now is unknown, with E! News hearing from Chyna's manager "she was found peacefully in her home in Redondo Beach this afternoon."

An official statement on her Twitter account reads: "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer, AKA Chyna, the 9th Wonder of the World has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."

On Wednesday evening (April 20), police said that there were no signs of foul play resulting in Chyna's death.

Throughout her career, Chyna had many momentous moments that solidified her as one of the most recognisable names in wrestling.

Not just going up against fellow females in the squared circle, Chyna's legacy includes wins against Triple H, Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle, and even became the first woman to claim the Intercontinental Championship following a match at pay-per-view No Mercy against Jeff Jarrett.

WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon commented: "She was truly a pioneer in our industry and she will be missed".
