The world’s in a state of limbo right now, and we’re all confined to our homes in a bid to stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This coming weekend (March 27th-March 29th, 2020) will be the first one we pass through whilst under a partial lockdown here in the UK, so what better way to spend that time than watching some fantastic shows and films on TV? Here’s everything you should be watching from Friday to Sunday, all available on Freeview!
Celebrity Murder Mystery – Friday March 27th, 2020 – 9pm on Channel 5
The famous faces taking part are Su Pollard, Sheila Ferguson, the Rev Richard Coles, Keith Duffy, Angela Rippon and John Sergeant: a brilliant recipe for entertainment. The two-part series will see them work together over four days, relying on their wit to figure out just who is murdering the late Baroness Grafton's loved ones.
Brave – Saturday March 28th, 2020 – 5.15pm on BBC One
In one of Disney Pixar’s best movies, Scottish independent archer Merida defies an age-old custom, leading to the unleashing of an incredibly dark force that threatens her loved ones. Turning to a witch for advice, Merida is granted an ill-fated wish, and sets off on a journey to right her wrongs. This is a gorgeous family film that will have everybody glued to the screen, and if you’re not yet signed up to Disney+, then it’s the perfect excuse to watch something from Disney away from the streaming platform!
Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway – Saturday March 28th, 2020 – 7pm on ITV
What’s supposed to be the penultimate episode in the latest series of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway has been pre-recorded this year, because of the restrictions on being out and about during these strange times. Tune in for an hour of fun and laughter, as the boys debut their final episode of Men in Brown, and give us another edition of I’m A Celebrity Get Out of my Ear.
In for a Penny – Saturday March 28th, 2020 – 8pm on ITV
Stephen Mulhern makes his return for a second series of In for a Penny, following the huge success of the first. What started out as a game on Saturday Night Takeaway has now grown into something much bigger, with Mulhern visiting locations across the UK and giving everyday people the chance to win some great prizes, including £1,000 cash. Mindless fun – exactly what we need right now.
Girls Trip – Saturday March 28th, 2020 – 9pm on Channel 4
Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish and Jada Pinkett Smith all star in Girls Trip, directed by Malcolm D. Lee. When one of the ladies is invited to speak at the annual Essence Festival, she sees it as a chance to reconnect with her close friends, and it's not long before the four are heading out on a trip to New Orleans. Pure comedy genius from start to finish.
The Family Chase – Sunday March 29th, 2020 – 7pm on ITV
Take the regular format of The Chase, but make all four members of the starting team relatives, and you’ve got The Family Chase! There’s something magical about bringing loved ones together to try and win huge amounts of money – especially so when they implore one another to go for high amounts and end up bickering!
The Nest – Sunday March 29th, 2020 – 9pm on BBC One
Make sure you check out the first episode of The Nest on BBC iPlayer before you watch this one! This emotional thriller follows a couple (Sophie Rundle, Martin Compston) who are struggling to have a baby, and go to extreme lengths to try and start a family. Saying much more would spoil things, but expect a rollercoaster ride!
