When 'Wentworth Prison' was announced as a remake based on 'Prisoner Cell Block H', original fans of the show weren't convinced it could live up to its predecessor.

Now, after ten episodes they can take a sigh of relief, as the series was one of the best dramas in television for quite some time.

Featuring a stellar cast - including Danielle Cormack as Bea Smith, Kris McQuade as Jacs Holt and Nicole Da Silva as Franky Doyle - the ladies put on some of the best emotional and believable performances, 'Wentworth Prison' redefined the formula a prison drama should have.

The storylines hit close to home with the viewers, tackling issues that many may face within their own life, and it is that relatability that ensures this show keeps people tuning in.

The finale cliffhanger was a big one - Bea Smith has done something she can't turn back on - and not coming back for the second season would be a crime in itself.

Fans of the programme can purchase the first season on DVD from Monday November 4.

A deluxe edition includes over two hours of bonus material, including behind the scenes episode features, set tours and interviews with cast and crew.

Each episode is also available to purchase on iTunes, at £1.89 for standard definition or £2.49 for high definition.
