This week’s episode of Game of Thrones was one of the most momentous in the show’s history. As Daenerys launched an attack on the White Walkers and the army of the dead by their side, she lost one of her three dragons in the battle, as Viserion was pierced by an icy spear and fell from the sky, straight into the cold depths beneath him. As the episode came to a close however, we saw Viserion brought back to life, but not in the way we would have liked. The Night King raised the dragon from the dead and suddenly, the White Walkers and their army looked stronger than ever before.
With just one final episode before the end of season 7, we’ve decided to make three big predictions about what will go down in this season’s final moments. Here’s what our money’s on…
1. Jaime will discover that Cersei’s pregnancy is a farce
A couple of episodes back, we saw Cersei Lannister tell her brother Jaime Lannister that she had fallen pregnant once more with his child. As we now know, Cersei doesn’t let a lot of what’s going on in King’s Landing and beyond get by her, so what if she made up the pregnancy just to keep her brother and lover on-side, after feeling a little uneasy about keeping his support? If this is the case and she lied to Jaime about being pregnant, that could have some huge ramifications moving forward. In fact, we think the biggest ramification of all will come in the same episode…
2. Jaime will kill Cersei
Not only do we think Jaime will discover Cersei is lying about being pregnant, but we think he’ll fall privy to plans she has to take out Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen upon their arrival to King’s Landing. She’s not someone willing to sit down and listen to reason from her opponents, and would likely rather see them wiped out in one fell swoop. If she refused to listen to the pair and Jaime got wind of her madness, along with the fake pregnancy, we could easily see him fulfilling the witches’ prophecy that was laid out for her as a child. Will he hold her down with his golden hand whilst he chokes the life from her? We wouldn’t put it past him. He’s taken out crazy monarchs in the past…
3. The White Walker army will use Viserion to melt the wall
Now, back to that icy dragon! While many think that Viserion will now breathe ice rather than fire, we think fire will still be what comes from the beast’s mouth. If that’s the case, it’s not going to take much for the dragon to melt down the wall that’s separating the White Walkers and their army from the Seven Kingdoms. We can see the closing shot of season 7 now. The wall melting slowly away and the Night King setting his eyes on all that lies beyond it. It’s going to send a chill down our spines…
Game of Thrones season 7 concludes on HBO in the US next Sunday and on Sky Atlantic in the UK on Monday.
