In an eye-opening episode of Dr. Phil, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards sat down for an exclusive interview where she opened up about her drunken arrest earlier this month, as well as her sobriety, battle with alcoholism and more.
What we may have learned from the show is that Richards may be able to take responsibility for her actions at times, but she does like to downplay exactly what has gone on in her life, and she's not entirely open to getting past this stage in her life and moving on. Here are seven other big moments from the interview.
1) Kim blames social media, relationship with her sister and her Real Housewives backlash for her drunken arrest
She says that her strained relationship with her sister Kyle - which saw the pair not talk for five months prior to the RHOBH reunion taping - as well as backlash on social media following some dramatic scenes on the Bravo reality series left her reeling, angry and upset. Where she is now is because of all of those things claims the star, with her stating: "The bottom line is it's the overall outcome of where today is with my relationships with the people I love the most. That's what really started getting me upset."
2) She says she only had one drink on the night of her arrest
Described as "belligerent" by the people that saw her on the night of her arrest, Kim stands by her account of pouring just a single drink of vodka which she at first said was around two inches high in a small glass. Later however she gives in to admit that perhaps the drink was "bigger than I thought".
3) The night of her arrest is 'like a fog' - she only remembers some details
Attempting to remember the details of the night, there are some moments that Richards admits she cannot recall, adding that it's 'like a fog' with everything "kind of in waves". Though she says she wasn't blacked out, some events just aren't there for her.
4) She remains adament that she was not drinking during RHOBH season 5 filming
Denying claims from TMZ that say she was drunk during RHOBH filming, Richards says that whilst she was working she didn't touch a drop of alcohol. She went on to explain that this was why she was so angry at the rest of the cast who questioned her sobriety and asked her questions about her recovery.
5) Kim's son Chad thinks that his mother's relationship with Brandi Glanville is "toxic" and later inadvertently revealed she has issues with 'pot' and 'pills'
Known to lash out on the show, Brandi Glanville has been described as "toxic" by one of Kim's children Chad. He said that he thinks his mother should instead be "hanging around people that are supportive of your sobriety". Later he was caught on microphone speaking to his mother behind closed doors, explaining how she needs to get help because she's been taking pills and smoking pot in her 'three years sober'.
6) This wasn't Kim's first relapse with alcohol
Though she didn't touch alcohol whilst working on RHOBH, Dr. Phil learned that this wasn't the first time Kim had gone back to the bottle within the past few months. She admitted to drinking wine on her own in her house.
7) Dr. Phil's offer of treatment was initially declined by Kim
In the middle of filming, Kim stormed off set and blamed "anxiety" on her leave. Later she was heard on microphone saying "F**k him!" in reference to Dr. Phil, and complaining that his plan wouldn't be best for her because of its location, length and situations. Dr. Phil explained that next day she rang saying she'd had a change of heart, but then she went back and forth and ended reverting to her initial stance. He couldn't confirm recent reports that she has sought treatment, but wished her the best.
