The Undateables returned to Channel 4 last night for its third series, with a whole host of brand new characters who are looking for love, and have so far been unlucky in their searches.

We were introduced to Daniel who has a form of autism - an extremely loveable character who just wants to find somebody with whom he can mirror the relationship his parents have shared.

Then there was Mary - who didn't look at all her age at 44 - who has a form of Dwarfism and has only ever had two relationships, along with her son who also has the condition and is utterly protective over his mother.

Finally there was Hayley the nursery nurse, born with a rare condition that fuses her bones together and sister to Amanda who has typically good looks.

All three went on dates with possible suitors, and all three managed to get things off the ground with Holly, Jet and Chris - those chosen by a special agency who agreed to help the cast in their quest.

It was enough to melt even the iciest hearts, as we were shown the ups and downs of dating when you're making the most of your life while being different to most of the general public.

Brutally honest at times, but only when needed in a bid to educate the viewer, the series has finally gotten away from the patronising tone that it may have fell into in the past two series.

Exploitative it is not - everybody who has signed up here has done so with the knowledge that their experiences will be filmed, and at no point were they treated with anything but respect.

The Undateables is a show that should now continue to shine, and I can't wait to hear the stories of the rest of the cast this year.
