This week in the world of The Great British Bake Off, the remaining contestants are tasked with making all sorts of biscuits that will be trialled and tested by none other than Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry.

Mel and Sue are at their absolute bests yet again, dropping puns left right and centre - who else could get away with calling Mary Berry iconic Bond character Pussy Galore? Their humour even rubs off on Paul who tries his own hand at joking around - we think he should stick to the bread making.

The signature challenge of the week is to make 36 savoury biscuits that include or would go well with cheese. Where some bakers fall flat, others soar, and Nancy makes her return with another husband-crafted gadget, dubbed her 'biscuit iron maiden' following last week's 'cake guillotine'.

Moving into a technical challenge of creating 18 florentines using Mary Berry's very own recipe, the basic instructions again prove to be a major hindrance for some of those in the tent, and I'm not sure whether it's a good or bad thing when Mel looks into one of the ovens and exclaims: "Look, that one's moving!"

When the Showstopper Challenge comes around, some at the bottom of the pile are able to pick themselves back up when tasked with building a 3D biscuit scene that must stand up.

Every baker comes up with one of the most ambitious ideas on the show and whilst some leave more to be desired and one even uses bought-in fondant, they are incredible feats and fantastic to look at. I look forward to the day when 'taste television' is invented.

Alas, one must be sent packing - will it be another female casualty or will the first male of the year be sent home? Tune in to find out - we're not going to spoil that for you!

Next week's theme is bread and it looks like Paul's going to be stricter than ever, impressed by one contender's 'alchemy' but less so by potential disasters.

The Great British Bake Off continues Wednesday nights at 8pm on BBC One.
