Despite rumours he would be making a huge appearance at this year's SummerSlam event, wrestler Sting instead made his surprise return a night later on Monday Night Raw, beating up WWE World Heavyweight Champion and US Champion Seth Rollins, taking away the World title belt in the process.
At a point in the show where the Authority Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were to unveil a statue of the double champion, Sting interrupted by replacing the statue with himself before launching into the attack.
It had been almost five months since Sting's last appearance in WWE, with the wrestler last seen on the WWE Network one night after his loss to Triple H at WrestleMania 31, where he had his first and only WWE match.
However, his second match with the company is to come, as he's now scheduled to go up against Rollins in a bout for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions on September 20.
Triple H made the announcement later on the WWE Network.
Meanwhile, The Dudley Boyz also made a triumphant return. Bubba was a part of the Royal Rumble in January, but the duo haven't been on WWE TV in a decade as a team.
No matches have been announced for the pair, but it seems likely that they'll now be going after the tag team championships, after attacking current champions The New Day.
Ric Flair also showed up on Raw to confront Jon Stewart about helping Rollins win his match against John Cena. The former Daily Show host said he did so as a wrestling fan, because he didn't want Cena to tie Flair's record of 16 world title reigns.
