March 21, 2016 - UPDATE: Sting spoke to TMZ and told the website: "My neck is okay. I'm not officially retired. There's a lot of rumours out there, but I'm not officially retired."
TMZ Sports are reporting that Sting's wrestling career is officially over, after the iconic star injured his neck at WWE Night of Champions against Seth Rollins, never being able to fully recover.
Sources claim that several doctors have all evaluated Sting and all agree that it's too risky for him to return to the ring, so he's decided to call it day.
The 56-year-old has, according to TMZ, been formally diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis, which also caused WWE Superstar Edge to retire in 2011.
An official announcement may be made later this year, when Sting is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in Texas ahead of WrestleMania 32.
Reports claim Sting is still open to a non-wrestling role within the WWE, but nothing has been made concrete as of writing.
