Coronation Street bosses have turned down Tony Blackburn's request to cameo in the ITV soap.

Harbouring a lifelong dream to drink a pint in the Rovers Return alongside the Weatherfield locals, Tony will have to hold on to his hopes going forward.
When Blackburn's agents approached the soap bosses about the idea, show chiefs declined.
Speaking to The Sun, the iconic radio DJ explained: "I love Coronation Street. I've watched practically every episode - I think I'm their biggest fan.
"I've only got one ambition and it's to be on it, to be in the Rovers Return. My agent tried to get me on it... but they wouldn't do it. I don't understand why because they've done it with a few celebrities."
He did go on to insist however that the incident didn't put him off watching the show going forward.
"I love to record seven or eight, then have a day when I just watch that. It's beautifully written. I don't like EastEnders, I find it a bit depressing."
