The 45-year-old actress would be open to reprising her role as Melanie Owen in the BBC One soap following the character's exit in April 2002 after three-and-a-half years on screen.

Although she'd be willing to listen to an offer for a potential return to Albert Square, Tamzin has never been asked by show bosses.

During an appearance on 'Loose Women' on Monday (21.03.16), she said: "I've never been asked so I've never been faced with the decision, and I'm not sure how Mel would ever go back because there's no family there.

"I mean I don't see it as a failure to go back. Loads of my favourite actors go in and out of that show and they're brilliant."

The only thing that puts Tamzin off playing Melanie again is the gruelling schedule required to make the four episodes-a-week programme.

She added: "I don't know if I've ever been available long enough. You have to give up a chunk (of time) don't you and I suppose that scares me the idea of committing for a long period".

Tamzin recently took nine months off work to be a stay-at-home mother to her two daughters Florence, seven, and three-year-old Marnie - her kids with ex-husband Tom Ellis.

And although she has now returned to acting, Tamzin loved being able to spend all her time with her children.

The blonde beauty - who can currently be seen in theatre show 'How the Other Half Loves' alongside Jason Merrels - said: "I absolutely adore my job ... but when you work our kind of hours you miss their holidays. I was never available to go on holiday with them. So when they broke up from school I took them somewhere and that really was priceless ... Now I'm back at work they get so excited to see me. They're like, 'Mummy, mummy!' "
