Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan was shocked when producers first told her they were killing off her popular character.
The actress is bowing out of the ITV soap - in which she plays stunning barmaid Tina McIntyre - in May and although she chose to leave the soap, she was shocked to learn that show bosses weren't going to leave the door open for her return.
She explained: "I was a bit [surprised] at first. They told me they would leave the door open initially and a few months down the line, the producers said they'd done a storyline conference and the writers had pitched a really good leaving storyline for me.
"I was shocked initially because leaving a soap and having a door open can be a safety net, but then I was told how it was going to affect the street's characters for the rest of the year and I was hooked!"
The brunette beauty wrapped up her final scenes recently and was left emotional because she's grown up on the soap's set.
She told Britain's OK! magazine: "Its been really emotional. I cried on my last day and I cried at my party and so did the make-up girls. I think it's because I started at a young age and grew up there. It's like finishing high school but no one's coming with me!"
