Michelle Keegan has thanked Coronation Street and her time on the show for making her a better actress.
Departing her six-year role as Tina McIntyre on the ITV show in a dramatic storyline last year where her character was murdered, she's happy she's been made to "mature".
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Michelle explained: "'Corrie' made me a better actress, it was an amazing platform.
"You go in day in, day out for 12 hours and I had amazing storylines in 'Coronation Street' so I do think it gave me the experience to go on and do other things."
Now Michelle is set to appear in new BBC One drama Ordinary Lines as Tracy, a woman who's enlisted by her boyfriend to help smuggle drugs into the UK.
On the topic of the role, Michelle said: "I got a few scripts but this was the one that I really wanted.
"I left the audition and I said to myself that I had to get that part, I fell in love with it."
Michelle's also stated she relates to her BBC One character and thinks she's more "glamourous" than her previous role.
"The wardrobe situation? I'd say Tracy is a little bit more glamorous than Tina, just a little bit.
"I can relate to her, she's a normal girl, she's in a job that just gets her by, it pays for the clothes and her make-up.
"She just wants a better life and that's what gets her in trouble. She ends up in a very extreme situation and what you see is that it starts out as a holiday, everything's fine and she's having a great trip with her mates. Then it turns really sinister."
