Katy Cavanagh has called time on her role on Coronation Street, after sticking around on the cobbles for seven years.
Deciding to take a break from the show to focus on other projects, the 41-year-old actress will leave behind her character Julie Carp in late spring.
In a statement, Katy explained: "I have decided it's time to take a break from the cobbles and pursue other projects and opportunities.
"I have loved every minute in the world of Julie Carp and I'm not ruling out a return to the Street in the future. However I am looking forward to a new challenge and a pair of flat shoes."
Coronation Street bosses have since revealed that Julie's final goodbye is to revolve around a storyline which sees her romance with Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) come to an end.
Taking a turn for the worse, Julie calls time on their relationship and will decide to move away when Dev returns from India.
Stuart Blackburn, producer of the soap added: "Julie Carp has become a warm, wonderful and eccentric character able to raise a laugh and a tear in the same scene.
"Everyone at Corrie wishes Katy all the very best and hopefully as far as Julie is concerned, the cobbles haven't seen the last of her."
