EastEnders actor Jake Wood - who plays Max Branning in the BBC One soap - has admitted that Lucy Beale's (Hetti Bywater) killer is to be revealed to cast "an hour or half an hour" before it's revealed on air.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2 on the Steve Wright in the Afternoon show, Jake states that those involved in the show don't have any idea who's responsible for Lucy's murder, as bosses are still keeping tight-lipped.

"I don't think we'll find out until the night. I guess whoever did it will find out an hour or half an hour before so I have no idea," he said.

Still one of the main suspects following his affair with Lucy, Jake's character Max is in the frame but the actor confesses he doesn't even know the full range of secrets behind that storyline.

"There's a secret as well between him and his daughter Abi [Lorna Fitzgerald] but I don't know what that secret is so hopefully I'll find out in the next couple of weeks."

Rehearsals for the upcoming live week of episodes to celebrate the show's 30th anniversary are underway, with Lucy's killer unveiled on Friday, February 20.

"I got the scripts for that Friday and about 90 per cent of it was censored so I don't know what's going on, it's all top secret. I've got no idea when they're handing that out and it's just exciting no one knows who done it and all the cast are trying to guess as much as anyone else."

He went on to say how "honoured" he was to be part of such a huge storyline.

"I've been there nine years, I love the show and there's not a day goes by when I'm not thankful to be in it, especially now. It's a real honour to be involved in the show for the 30th anniversary."
