Jack P. Shepherd has been given a new contract at Coronation Street.
The actor stars as David Platt on the ITV soap and despite being reprimanded for comments on Twitter about a fire at Manchester dog's home earlier this year, he'll stay with the show.
It's been revealed it's a big-money contract, but bosses are keen to let viewers know that the deal was made before the incident took place, and he hasn't been "rewarded" for his real-life actions.
An insider explained to The Sun: "What Jack Wrote on Twitter was unforgivable and is future on the show was seriously in doubt.
"But just days before we had given him a new one-year contract. He is one of the biggest stars on the show and we wanted to recognise that.
"That said, we completely understand how it looks and we would hate for people to think we have rewarded him for his terrible behaviour."
Since the Twitter comments, Jack's contract may have been altered, as the source continued: "We don't know whether his new deal would have been affected by what he said on Twitter, but there is definitely a chance it would have been."
Jack recently returned to the social media service after being banned from using it for several weeks by Corrie bosses.
