Coronation Street's Jack P. Shepherd is to launch his own casting agency next month.

The actor already owns a Manchester performing arts school, but will add to his career by becoming a talent scout and agent.

A source spoke to The Sun newspaper, revealing: "It's a win-win situation for Jack because he's already a big name in telly, so theatre and TV producers will be very keen to deal with him.

"Owning the theatre school is clever. Parents pay him to teach their kids to act and, if they're any good, he can get them a shot at the big time and receive a fee."

Jack has starred in the ITV long-running soap since April 2000, and is keen to explore other avenues in case his time comes to an end on the show.

The source continued: "He has been in 'Corrie' since he was a kid but he's wise enough to know nothing lasts for ever in showbiz.

"The theatre school and casting agency are designed with an eye on the future in case he ever gets the boot from 'Coronation Street.' "

The casting agency will launch this October.
