Speaking on Good Morning Britain Helen said: "I'm absolutely delighted she's coming back.

"I found out yesterday for sure, I can't wait to welcome her back."

Tina last appeared in the soap nearly seven years ago as her teenage tearaway alter ego, after joining in 1999 and being involved in some of the soap's most controversial storylines.

Returning in early 2015, she's sure to cause drama between Jason and Todd Grimshaw - played by Ryan Thomas and Bruno Langley respectively - as well as her own siblings David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).

Helen says however her character's going to be there to stick up for her daughter.

"I think ultimately, in the end, Gail will always keep her family together. She's like a lion, she looks after her cubs."
