'EastEnders' stars Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie have admitted some of the soap's storylines are farcical.
Jessie - who plays Kat Slater - has confessed she can't understand the idea of Kat having a second child she didn't know about when she gave birth to her daughter Zoe.
She said: "I don't know what to say! She was so out of it and obviously it was before she had a scan. And she didn't know she had twins. She just didn't know.
"It seems a little bit ridiculous that she did not know. I am trying to justify this."
Meanwhile, Shane - who plays Alfie Moon - ridiculed a storyline from 2011, in which Ronnie Mitchell lost her baby James to cot death and subsequently swapped the dead baby for Alfie and Kat's child.
He told Ireland's 'Late Late Show': "That turned into a farce, for want of a better word.
"It split the audience."
Jessie said 'EastEnders' storylines are "completely bonkers", adding: "That's what makes Kat and Alfie so interesting. They'd be boring if they sat in front of a telly all day, reading the paper."
