Ryan Thomas is enjoying playing his 'Coronation Street' character's grittier side.
The 31-year-old actor has played builder Jason Grimshaw on the ITV soap for 15 years but has revealed viewers will soon see a more aggressive side to him after it was revealed he will be the victim of a brutal attack set up by Sean Ward's character Calum Logan.
He said: "It's been great. Sean is really amazing. He's a breath of fresh air. Him and Terence [Maynard], who plays my dad - I've been working with them both a lot.
"It's different for Jason's character because he's normally playing the lovable family guy. It's just a change of character for him where he gets to be a little bit more aggressive and protective over his family and people around him. He's got a lot to do with Sarah and Bethany (Platt), protecting them and the Platts. There's a lot of fighting going on!"
Ryan - who has daughter Scarlett with co-star and ex-girlfriend Tina O'Brien - also joked that he got in trouble for snoring on set following a recent holiday.
He told ITV's 'This Morning': "There are great hospital scenes. I came back from Ibiza on the Sunday, I was in work on the Monday and I slept all day in a hospital bed! The director said to me, 'Can you stop snoring?' It was the best bit of acting I've ever done."
