Alison King is taking a break from 'Coronation Street'.
The 42-year-old actress - who has played Carla Connor in the ITV soap for nine years - is set to take a "sabbatical" from her role because of "creative reasons".
A spokesperson for 'Coronation Street' said: "Alison King has indicated to producers she would like to take a sabbatical from the show for creative reasons at some point in 2016.
"She wishes to try her hand at other projects before returning to the part of Carla Connor, a role she has enjoyed playing for nine years. Before Ali takes her break Carla has much more drama to come."
And just some of that drama will see Alison's character Carla in a sticky situation after becoming a target for archenemy Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
The pair has never seen eye to eye since Carla started dating Tracy's brother Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and their feud was only made worse by Carla breaking up Tracy's relationship with Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) by handing him into the police.
In explosive scenes set to air at the end of this month, viewers will see Tracy's revenge end with a colossal blaze at Victoria Court.
However, viewers will be left guessing whether the fire is part of the mother-of-one's plan or whether it will take on a mind of its own.
