Adam Woodyatt helped engineer Gillian Taylforth's return to 'EastEnders'.
The 46-year-old actor - who plays Ian Beale on the BBC soap - has revealed the crucial role he played in the return of his on-screen mum Kathy Beale.
He revealed: "I gave (Dominic Treadwell Collins, Executive Producer of the show) her mobile number so he could call her without telling her agent! We had to keep it secret...!"
Adam confessed he doesn't know when his co-star will make her eagerly-awaited return to Albert Square, but is looking forward to working with her once again.
He told ITV's 'This Morning': "No idea (when she is returning) and I don't care, I just can't wait until she gets here. Gill is coming back.
"I don't know how Dom is doing it, he hasn't told me. I just can't wait until she does get back, its going to be great working with Gill again."
What's more, Adam described the last 12 months as the "toughest year" of his 30-year association with the programme.
The actor - who played a central role in the Lucy Beale murder storyline - said: "It's been a full on year. It's been the toughest year that I can remember.
"The live week was something else - we all hoped it'd be good, but I don't think we thought we'd get the response that we did get. It was just overwhelming."
