Reluctant to believe she has MS, Susan demands a second opinion. Libby and Karl disagree about her decision: Libby thinks that there is no harm in supporting Susan but Karl frets that indulging her denial is simply prolonging her pain. When Libby hears Susan getting angry about the fact that friends and neighbours know she's unwell, she realises Karl is right and fears she has made matters worse by giving her mother false hope. When the second opinion confirms that she does have MS, Susan sinks even lower as she is finally forced to accept that there is no chance of a miracle cure or misdiagnosis.Janae and Kirsten both sign up to help Mickey with his volcano project and they struggle to work together. Making a supreme effort to keep things friendly, Janae invites Kirsten to stay for dinner. During the evening Kirsten, Ned and Steve discuss the upcoming Oakey school reunion and all the country Queensland reminiscing leaves Janae feeling left out. Ned does his best to reassure Janae but it's clear he's going to have a hard time juggling the needs of his girlfriend and the mother of his child.Dan gives Zeke a disciplinary letter to take home to his parents about the fight at the pool. Libby finds it and, aware that Karl and Susan have enough to deal with, tells Zeke she'll take care of it. The Kennedy-Kinski kids agree to look out for each other during this turbulent time. Bridget tells Rachel that although she likes Josh, her first kiss was a bit disappointing and she's not sure if they're meant to be together. Complicating matters is Declan, who is determined to apologise for his past mistakes. Despite Ringo's weary advice to walk away, Declan impulsively kisses Didge. This time the earth definitely moves but angry Bridget rejects him, delivering the devastating declaration that Declan is too late: she already has a boyfriend.
