Steph cops flak from the residents of Erinsborough when Stingrays memorial wall is about to be repainted and is forced to choose between supporting her friends of standing by the councils decision. Steph sides with her friends, and in doing so understands that she will now have an uphill battle with the council.Steph and Toadie announce their engagement, but it becomes clear through a chat with Valda that Stephs view of their future might not be the same as Toadies. When Toadie gives her an engagement ring, Steph realises that she and Toadie need another chat. They hammer out a compromise, but its not exactly the rosy engagement Toadies been dreaming of. Declan and Bridget narrowly escape school thug Justin and the thrill of the chase gets their blood pumping. But their romantic attraction takes a back seat when they return to Declans car and find that Justin and his brothers have painted graffiti around the car. Declan blames Bridget, and a hurt Bridget goes out of her way to organize for the car repair, also offering to pay for the damages. Declan accepts the money, but later gives half back to Bridget, acknowledging their mutual guilt in the affair. A détente for them until Justin arrives in Ramsay Street, laying down a drag racing gauntlet to Declan.Frazer and Rosie delay dealing with the compensation money again, but Frazer is tempted to invest it in a sure thing a racing mate puts him onto. With Rosie being asked to give a speech to her alumni at Melbourne Uni, the stakes for her career and their marriage are high. Will Frazer give in to temptation?Rosie learns that Diana has been offered a high profile case by her Q.C. ex-husband. But Diana explains she turned the case down and Rosie intuits that relations between Diana and her ex-husband are strained. Later, Diana puts Rosie forward to deliver a talk to university students, reasoning that Rosie is still passionate about the law and life in general. Rosie begins to suspect her new hero is nursing a badly broken heart.
