Rushed to hospital following his collapse, Paul's prognosis is dire: there are no options left, he needs a risky operation to remove his neuroma or he will die. However, Fox arrives and tells Paul that the doctors are lying about their chances of success. He advises Paul to go home, offering to help him live out his final days with dignity. Back in the flat, Paul wants to make amends with Elle before it's too late but Fox lies again, telling Paul that he called and she refused to have anything to do with him. Fox insists that he is the only person Paul has left. Meanwhile Elle, seeking refuge from her troubles with Oliver, decides to visit her dad. She arrives at the door just as Paul is angrily accusing Fox of trying to keep his family away. Elle bursts in only to be confronted by a bewildering scene; Paul is fighting with thin air. Fox doesn't exist! Following Oliver's declaration of love, guilt-ridden Elle tries to avoid him but quickly realises that she isn't going to be able to dodge her business partner forever. She decides that Oliver should tell Carmella about the kiss but then changes her mind just as he's about to confess. Knowing she'd never forgive herself if she ruined their relationship, Elle convinces Oliver that he's better off with Carmella. The kiss was meaningless and not worth upsetting his beautiful girlfriend over. Decision made, Elle then suggests that Ollie learn about the business in another one of the Barnes' hotels, leaving her to run Lassiter's alone. Aware that Elle has a crush on her boyfriend, Carmella's suspicions are aroused. She confronts Oliver: has something happened between him and Elle? Ringo continues his Sensitive New Age Guy routine in order to impress Rachel. She begs him to bring some of the machismo back but when he overhears Elle and Oliver talking about their forbidden kiss he finds himself genuinely needing to discuss his feelings with his girlfriend.
Meanwhile Zeke gets love life advice from Carmella. When he catches Lolly looking at his lips, he's devastated to realise it's because the biro he was chewing on has leaked, rather than because she's "triangular gazing".
