Paul’s suspicious of Elle’s odd behaviour and is panicked by thoughts of her leaving. Elle reveals nothing to Paul but when the time comes Paul thwarts her furtive flight, begging her to stay. She accuses him of making her lose another son and severs their relationship. But eventually she discovers he’s only got her family’s best interests at heart and asks him to move into the Timmins house permanently - much to his delight.
