There’s excitement in the air for Belle as the day dawns on her final HSC exam, with Drew busy putting the finishing touches to a big surprise for her. While Belle speculates as to what it could be, Annie can’t help but confess to overhearing a phone conversation which may just hold the answer: if her suspicions are right, he’s going to propose. She may have misread the signs, but the ever romantic Annie is at least right on one thing: it is, indeed, about to become the happiest day of Belle’s life – but for a very different reason. Much to her excitement (and relief), Drew’s bought her a car; better yet, a preoccupied Dan agrees that the happy couple can follow in Alf’s footsteps by taking a break from the Bay to go on a summer road trip together. Too good to missAfter Dan’s string of meetings with a mystery blonde, Leah finally cottons on to the fact that something’s not right when she not only finds out about a phone call made to the diner from said character but also discovers a receipt for The Sands with what turns out to be her telephone number written on it. While she’s quick to jump to the wrong conclusions, Dan later offers a reasonable explanation as he introduces his wife to Gwen. It turns out that he met her on the school trip to the Northern Territories; she was so impressed by his counselling skills that she’s offering him the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with a youth programme in America. What does this mean for his and Leah’s relationship?While you were sleepingWith still no change in Jack’s condition, Sam’s finding it increasingly difficult to cope, and poor Rory’s beginning to bear the brunt of her frustration. It’s only after a chat with Rachel that she finally comes round to the idea of taking well-earned break from the hospital in order for her to spend some quality time with her son – but she may just come to regret her decision to ask Martha to take her place at Jack’s bedside.

You see, it’s that night, as the hours tick by and Martha begins to doze off, that Jack finally wakes up from his coma – and hers is the first name on his lips. ‘I knew you’d come,’ he whispers, as Martha looks on stunned.
