Man, I wish I could see Dennis face right now, Drew gloats, news yet to reach him of the accident. And even when it does, he seems less concerned about the fates of Denni and Lisa than he does about hiding The Beast and its bonnet full of stolen parts. With that task out of the way, he realises that he cant evade police questioning for ever and pays a visit to the station, where he walks in on Jazz making a scene by protesting his innocence. Drew knows the difference between right and wrong, she argues, blissfully unaware of his partaking in more than a little illegal activity during recent weeks. Either way, he doesnt see fit to take up her suggestion of waiting for a lawyer before he starts talking, and soon reveals that, despite the fact hes raced before, its not something hes guilty of this time around. His story may match up with Rics, but theres only one way the police can be sure: they need to cross-match tire prints which is no mean feat when the car they need to examine has, coincidentally, gone missing. While the police promise to track it down at any cost, Drew takes his chances and preoccupies himself with trying to rip out all the illegal modifications hes made but it hasnt escaped Belles notice that Drews silence is particularly callous, considering that, while Dennis in a stable condition at Summer Bays hospital, Lisa has suffered severe head injuries and is currently being treated in the city.Last goodbyeAs news of Lisas condition starts to spread, its Lucas who is hit the hardest. He hates himself for letting Lisa think that he was ashamed of her and remains painfully aware that he could have done more to stop her getting back in the car with Denni. I just stood back and let her try to take care of it on her own, he tells Tony, whos only just starting to realise the depth of Lucs feelings. But theres worse to come. The heartbreaking news that Lisas injuries have proved fatal is enough to send Luc spiralling out of control. Putting his own guilt aside, he pays Denni a visit in hospital to confront him about whats happened and it soon turns violent. Its only when Tony steps in that Lucs forced to face up to losing Lisa; a realisation which sees him breaking down in his fathers arms. Guilty as charged
Back to the police investigation, and its not just Belle who stands to lose something if Drew continues to lie about the whereabouts of the car. The cops are investigating a major accident, and youre making us look guilty, Ric warns, still failing to get through to him.
Drews convinced that by stripping the car down before handing it over, he can exonerate himself for buying hot parts from Dom. (No, were not sure how he thinks theyd buy that one, either.) Its only with news of Lisas death that Belle finally manages to reawaken Drews conscience but his worries are far from over. The police may be able to clear him from any involvement in the accident, but that doesnt mean hes off the hook. You were wrong to give us the run-around with your car today, Fitz begins. We know why, and well be charging you on two counts: the first is obstructing an official investigation, and the second is possession of stolen goods. Jazz can only look on in disbelief, as she realises that this time theres no way out. You can start telling the truth, or be fast tracked to jail. Whats it gonna be? Fitz asks a stunned Drew.
