No sooner is Lisa through Drew’s front door than she spills all about Denni’s “crazy jealous kick”, claiming that she thought it time to deliver a friendly warning about the dangers Drew’s facing. Her intentions haven’t always been quite so sincere, though. “I thought it would be fun seeing you humiliated,” Lisa admits, as she reveals herself as the mastermind behind setting up the race in the first place. Worse still, wherever Lisa goes, her Neanderthal boyfriend isn’t far behind, so it’s not long before Denni’s bursting into the house to deliver a few more of his barely coherent demands. But his work is far from done.Leaving Drew to consider his options, Denni heads over to the Surf Club for a run-in with Belle, whose response does little to ease the tension. “Well, we know what they say about boys and their big cars: they’re lacking in certain areas,” she says smugly. Aside from making herself the target of Denni’s threats, Belle’s wise talk is also enough to force him into taking drastic measures when it comes to making sure there’s no way out for Drew. By stealing his rival’s car and telling him he won’t get it back unless they race, Drew finds himself backed into a corner – and while he’s only too happy for Belle to know about Lisa’s involvement in the whole thing, he’s less inclined to fill her in on his plans to give in to Denni’s demands. Fortunately for Belle, Lisa digs deep and rediscovers her conscience; as the two of them sit through a detention – issued by Don as punishment for their unladylike behaviour – she decides to reveal that Dom knows the exact time and place of the race. But when Belle makes her excuses and leaves for the Surf Club, she’s greeted with a rather different response than expected. “Last I heard there wasn’t going to be race today,” Dom says, continuing on his quest to drive a wedge between the happy couple. Will Belle work out the truth in time?Technically challengedDon, meanwhile, isn’t finding settling back into teaching quite as easy as he’d hoped, and all the latest advances in technology are doing little to help matters – especially when people like Dan insist on sending all their proposals to him via e-mail on account of saving the environment.

Too proud to admit he needs help, and having failed to convince Dan that providing a printout may be a better option, Don opts to pick up some skills in his own sneaky way: by claiming that he’s going to need to supervise Lucas as he helps Matilda with her IT project. He helpfully suggests that the best way to teach Matilda would be to have Luc talk her through everything step-by-step – and why not throw a Powerpoint tutorial into the mix?

“I’m sure she’d find that truly enlightening,” he says. Unsurprisingly, Don’s approach fails to gain him the knowledge he so desperately desires, leaving him no choice but to wait until Lucas is on his own before going in for the kill and asking for some tuition. “I imagine a few general lessons should do it,” Don says, as $50 changes hands behind the cover of a diner menu.

“I think what I’m looking for is a broad introduction to… things,” he continues vaguely. But if the resulting exchange about Word, Excel, PCs and Macs is anything to go by, we’re guessing it’s going to take a little more than that – and that Lucas could well be on the way to becoming the Bay’s latest millionaire.
