After Cassie gets an unexpected call from Matilda, she takes matters into her own hands and takes a bus down the coast to find her to make sure that everything's okay. At first Mattie is resistant to anything Cassie has to say, but it's clear that she's having doubts about whether or not she's made the right decision – especially when she hears about Ric being caught out at sea during the storm. Why wasn't she there for him? Despite Mattie's claims that she still wants to be with him, it just doesn't seem to anyone else that she's behaving that way. "Isn't the fact that you've run away as good as losing Ric anyway?" Cassie argues, clearly intent on leaving her best friend with some food for thought before she leaves. With doubts already on Matilda's mind, it doesn't take much for Reuben to push her to breaking point. "If Summer Bay was so great, why did you leave in the first place?" he asks, trying to turn their argument away from the fact that Matilda now knows he's been lying about his mother the whole time they've known each other. It's enough to prompt a moment of realization, sending Matilda straight back home – and, she hopes, back into Ric's arms.Playing the fieldMeanwhile, it's Drew's first day at the garage and, as expected, he's the butt of everyone's jokes. Aside from the fact that his knowledge of cars is beyond questionable, he's also convinced that there's a thumping noise coming from inside Tony's car boot (Tony has, rather coincidentally, dropped his car off for a service) – which makes sense, of course, given that Geoff's still in there.

Even if he's made one good move by finding Geoff in the nick of time, a gruelling day as a lackey leaves Drew wondering whether he's made the right call over his future career.

Perhaps he should have followed Jazz's advice and given the job a miss after all? Belle certainly doesn’t think so. "You know, your mum might think she has all the answers, but sometimes she doesn't," she snaps, still reeling from an earlier run-in with her – Jazz can't accept that encouraging Drew to see other girls isn't really an idea that fills Belle with joy.

As soon as Drew finds out what's been going on, he heads straight back home to confront Jazz, warning her that he's perfectly prepared to move out if she does anything more to get in the way of his relationship with Belle, and sending her straight back to the drawing board to find a new way to win him over.

School's out

Tony's day is going no better. No sooner has he got back from the garage than he's confronted by Bruce, who's demanding to know what's happened to Geoff. "If he gets into any sort of trouble, it'll be on your head," he threatens – and you know what that means.

When Geoff eventually shows up, having by now been checked over by a doctor, Tony is left defenceless in the face of questions from an enraged Bruce about his failure to look after him.

"Whoever did this, you tell them they'll be hearing from me," he adds, before rushing Geoff home and leaving Tony to ask himself some tough questions about his shortcomings.

But things are about to go from bad to worse; Bruce later shows up at Tony's house to break the news that he's pulling Geoff out of the team - and out of school.

“My grandchildren are being corrupted," he reasons, before pointing out that they can get a much better education working on the farm, anyway. Tony is gob-smacked. He barely has time to ask Geoff if that's really what he wants before Bruce drags him away. Can Tony find a way to turn the situation around?
