The bright city lights are far from welcoming for Kit, whose fears about whether or not she's done the right thing by Archie fail to be eased by her new accommodation, owned by a family-unfriendly landlord who makes the Child-Catcher look like Mary Poppins. And Kim's endless phone calls are doing little to ease the pain. So, all in all, you have to wonder: has she really kissed (no pun intended) life at Summer Bay goodbye for good? Or, at the very least, her life with Kim?Eye spyAlf is not in the best of moods (we're saying nothing). To make matters worse, he just happens to be in the line of fire when Jack well, Constable Holden, on this occasion is doing "random" roadside breath tests. But while there are no problems for Alf on that front, it seems that producing his driving licence proves somewhat more difficult. And when Jack later visits Alf at home, where he and Martha manage a chat without bickering (more on that one later), it emerges that Alf's problems go much deeper: his licence has expired, and he's putting off renewing it. He's afraid that, like his father before him, he's got glaucoma and that he's now on the road to permanent blindness. Will Martha be able to convince him to heed the warnings not to mention the law by giving up driving until he sorts himself out? Speaking of Martha, if you thought that her and Jack getting on seemed somewhat unusual, then you should probably know that she's less than pleased with him for failing to mention Alf's problems to her sooner. "Thanks for that, Constable. Have a nice day," she says, seething. The saga continues... The truth of the matter
It seems that, in Rachel and Kim's relationship, secrets are like buses: you wait for at least one of the many there are lurking about to get out into the open, and then they all spill out at once.
Yes, you've read that right; Kim and Rachel are finally about to come clean to one another about their indiscretions but not before a poor, and rather embarrassing, attempt at reconciliation. Because, after sleeping with Hugh, Rachel finds that even being touched by Kim is like being touched by the hands of guilt.
The unhappy pair seek comfort in their friends, giving them enough time to realise that it's time to 'fess up. "If I don't tell him, I may lose my marriage anyway," Rachel reasons to Leah; while, elsewhere, Jack forces Kim to face facts and accept that his is a marriage riddled with problems (yes, we knew that already).
The big moment arrives. Rachel is in the unfortunate position of going first; after admitting that she slept with Hugh, Kim's kissing Kit just seems to fade into oblivion not that Rachel sees it as all that insignificant, of course.
"You've been ignoring me for months. All you ever talk about is Kit and Archie," she retorts to his tirade. But he's had enough, and storms out of the house before she can utter another word.
