Meanwhile over at Summer Bay High, Naomi is bright and perky for her first English class.

Sally introduces her to the bouncy year twelves as an “exciting and inspiring teacher.”

But nothing could prepare this teacher for the sight of her former bedfellow, Lucas, all trussed up and cute in his school uniform.

She gets around it by ignoring his steely gaze and pointed remarks, and snapping at him.

“Lucas, I hope you behaved yourself with your new teacher,” Irene teases him later in the diner.

Naomi colours and dashes out of the door. “What we had was based on lies – it wasn’t real,” she hisses outside.

Lucas is distraught. Ric notices, and drags the story out of Luc. “Nice, man, that’s messy!” Ric says with a high-five, before warning his delicate pal there can be no future.

The other woman

Hugh’s finally got a night off. He declines Rachel’s offer of a cosy meal in favour of a night on the lash with the bwoys.

As the lads lurch into the drunkteenth bar of the evening, a stilettoed lovely takes a shine to our Hugh.

Egged on by whoopy Ric, Hugh makes a tentative move. The next morning, Rachel is shocked to see a semi-clad Ingrid tiptoeing out of Hugh’s bedroom.

Hugh’s embarrassed, but Rach is positively emerald with jealousy. She pulls Hugh up for treating Ingrid casually, and the long-simmering tension between them spills over.

Hugh asks Rachel why she’s reacting this way – why does she care if he gets it on with another woman?

That’s not a question Rachel’s ready to answer. It’s all a bit scary, really.
